Isabelle Cooper's in big, big trouble. Her flower shop? Well, it was just bought by the man she’s had a crush on forever. Her new boss, Devon Donovan, is a tall glass of melt-in-your-mouth hotness. The problem? Devon is definitely not interested in love. No ifs, ands, or buds about it.
Devon knows Isabelle has been crushing on him since college, but buying her business shouldn’t be a problem. Not only is she his employee, but as the eldest Donovan brother, he’s too busy protecting the family fortune for romance. But tomboy “Izzy” is all grown up now. And he’s finding it impossible to resist her, no matter how hard he tries...
MY REVIEW
Head Over Heels for the Boss was a great romance. It reminded me of once superstar romance authors Nora Roberts and Jude Deveraux in their earlier works. The book starts out immediately grabbing your attention by throwing you into the crux of Izzy's problem, which is that her parents have sold the family flower shop to her lifetime crush, the handsome and wealthy Devon.
What I enjoyed most about this book was the steady pace and the fact that the author did a really good job maintaining the conflict in the story throughout. Due to his abusive upbringing by his father and the poor example that was set for him about relationships and marriage, he has major committment issues and so when he and Izzy vocalize their attraction for each other, he seems to think they can keep things casual while working together. Wrong. It turns out Izzy is just the person he's needed most of his adult life to make him relax, stop working so much, and learn to enjoy life and love again.
While the book didn't leave me breathless or frantic to find reading time, it was a solid romance that I totally enjoyed. Entertaining and sweet, I think most fans of contemporary romance will love it. It's also nice for those who don't want books with a lot of sex, as the actual love-making portions of the scenes were cut short and glossed over.
4 of 5 stars!
